Wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to come into the dental arch. Although most people have wisdom teeth, it is possible that they never develop fully. Most people have four wisdom teeth at the back of the arch.
Damaged or impacted wisdom teeth can cause problems, such as swelling, stiffness, pain or damage to other teeth. Since wisdom teeth are hard to reach while brushing your teeth they are more vulnerable than other teeth.
To avoid future problems it is recommended to remove your wisdom teeth early on, if there is a change that the wisdom tooth can be impacted of damaged. By extending the period for removal the risk and recovery time tends to increase.
